Jericho March at St. Paul’s Cathedral

As Joshua and the army of Israelites broke down the walls of Jericho, conquering the land of Canaan, the National Service Team of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal services of India, are conducting all over India a “Jericho Prayer” to break down the walls of “religious violence” in our nation, with an effort to restore peace. Hence, with this intention the National Charismatic Team are moving to different dioceses of India to conduct Jericho Prayer/March by praying the Rosary, going in procession with the Holy Cross by singing praises and celebrating the Eucharist.

On 20th September, Jericho March was organized at St. Paul’s Cathedral by National Charistmatic Team, with the collaboration of the Diocesan Charistmatic Team led by Fr. Pamu Joshi Sudhakar, the parish priest of Challapalli and coordinator of Diocesan Charismatic Team. The Diocesan Charismatic Team laboured a lot with the valuable suggestions from His Lordship Most Rev. Joseph Raja Rao SMM, Bishop of Vijayawada and prepared for this great event well ahead. They conducted the prayer service on the previous day of the Jericho March for God’s Providence. The programme began with the praying of the

Holy Rosary at 1.30 p.m. After the recitation of the Rosary, there was a procession with the Crucifix around St.Paul’s Cathedral with songs of praise. It was preceded by the ceremony of handing over the Crucifix by one of the members of NST to Rev. Fr. Muvvala Prasad, the Vicar General. Fr. Prasad in turn handed the same after garlanding it, to Fr. P. Sudhakar who led the procession. The priests, religious and the faithful participated in the procession. The procession was followed by Holy Eucharistic celebration presided by Fr. Prasad. It was indeed a prayerful programme and the NST was edified by the Jericho March at Vijayawada.

Fr. Sudhakar expressed his grateful feelings to the Bishop for his encouragement, Fr. Muvvala Prasad for leading that day in prayer and Eucharist and the priests of Bishop’s House for the collaboration. He specially thanked Fr. Basani Papireddy, the parish priest of St. Paul’s Cathedral for his kind cooperation in making the programme fruitful.
