HISTORY:
The Capuchin Fathers came to the diocese in 1968 and took up the Parish of Avutapalli. In 1978. They extended their field of apostolate to the adjacent parish of Telaprolu. In 1980 they acquired a site at Enikepadu on the outskirts of Vijayawada and established Assisi Ashram – a Formation House for their scholastics. In 1981 Enikepadu (1984) was erected into a Quasi Parish and entrusted to them; they however relinquished the parish of Telaprolu. The Assisi Ashram chapel was blessed by Bishop Joseph Thumma on 7 Aug, 1985. When Andhra Caupuchin Region was set up in 1985, Assisi Ashram became the Capuchin Regional House.
